BMW E90 Cluster Showing Red Car on Lift

Hi all, I'm testing my bench setup with Junction box, CAS and KOMBI.
Parts all came off BMW E90 2008-2010 but are not all off same vehicle.
I can communicate with JBE and CAS but not with KOMBI.

When powered up, it shows red car on lift and when I press cluster button it shows me the KM but I'm not able to communication with cluster. I tried using INPA, ISTA, WinKFP, Tool32, FVDI, they all communicate with JBE and CAS but not with KOMBI.

What am I missing?

using parts from differnt vehicles may not give you accurate results,
the kobi is coded to cas by vin so may not recieve full information eg service data..

I do have a key programmed to the CAS. When I press the Start/Stop KL15 comes ON but the cluster does not wake-up.

make sure you have good 12V at pin 9, good ground at pin 18, that pin 6 and 7 goes to JBE pin 29 and 31 respectively.

Thanks for the schematic and tips. I double checked my connections and power/grounds and everything checks out.

I scoped the can lines and I can see what looks to be a healthy signal as soon as I insert key and system is awake.

I also programmed two new fobs and no difference, I am running out of things to try.

Could it be a JBE / KOMBI mismatch of some sort?

cluster is really from a 2008-2010? if so, might be a defective cluster I guess...

Cluster came off a pre-LCI 335i with prod date 11/2007 (KY63189).
JBE and CAS came off a LCI 328xi with prod date 09/2008 (A449612).

I never saw the cluster working so maybe it is bad.
