Hi everyone, blown my sprinter up today (2007 313) due to my brand new viscous fan being completely defective. I'm looking at a 2002-2005 E320 as a donor car for the OM648 engine and whatever else I'd need.

Does anybody know if its even possible to put the 6 cylinder engine in the sprinter, can the existing ecu be used? I know the mounts would have to be changed at what not but I'm just curious if it can be made to work without disrupting the abs, cluster etc. Thanks in advance

Hi... I have put one 6 cylinde om648 on a om903 sprinter. I ve used the w210 ecu and ezs and sprinter's manual transmission.

Don't even try to think about that :))) If you want 6 cylinder engine in sprinter use OM642.
Otherwise you will have unfixable problem with ABS/ESP system.
If your car has automatic transmission then forget about communicating EDC15 or EDC16 with TCM.
Sprinter 906 is another level than 903

It would be easier to go with a om642 v6 on that sprinter than a om648 straight 6. Yet again om642s are not the greatest, might be worth sticking with another om646 engine.

I ended up swapping it for a OM651, I bought an insurance write off donor van and swapped everything over, the entire wiring loom and all the modules, it took me about five days.

I know it’s a lot of hassle but it’s an extended wheelbase Sprinter dropside for carrying long loads, it’s a lot quieter and smoother to drive for me now.

Thanks for the advice though.
