Hello guys, I recently purchased a bmw E46 320ci just to practice remapping. Firstly, I have read through ms43 wiki and seen a few videos on YouTube but I am still afraid to go ahead as I might brick the Ecu, due to EWS

I have a few questions if anyone can help me
. 1)Do I need to read full 512kb file to edit fuel and ignition maps and add pop and bangs?
2) Can I read 64kb file and add pops and bangs and edit fuel ignition maps?
3)Will the car require ews synchronisation with DME after flashing 64kb file?
4) What software to use to synchronise EWS with DME?
5)Do I use Galletto 1260 or K+Dcan cable?

Thanks in advance.

I have mapped this ECU a few times with a clone kess. MS43 with kess just reads, no option for partial or full read. 512kb is full file to edit. EWS only comes in if you remove ECU. Snap on, Delphi and Carly can program EWS - DME

1.No,
2.Yes,
3.No,
4. INPA,
5. Works but need extern checksum corrector beause Gallo dont do CHKS.

Kess dont do fullread, its do partial and fullfill.

Hi thanks for your reply .I have a Kess V2 clone , would it read the ECU file and reupload it without any issues ? as I've heard kess dosen't work well with ms43 .When you remapped using kess did it read 64kb file or 512kb ? after that did you edit the values on winols or tunerpro ?

Hello Master , thanks for the input .What would you advice me to do ? I already have a kess v2 .Is it best if i buy galletto 1260 (for 64kb ) or inpa cable and do a full 512kb read ?

Absoluty wayne which one you are using for.
Kess read 512kb but its only partial 64kb rest fullfill, no data in there section. all data you need are there!
Kess do chks by fly.
Galletto dont do CHKS = you need other tool or do bit you yourself by hand.

Who would you tune the car if you arent able to get data readen ... ?
Cant understand.

Basically I wanna play around with the values and test the results on my car that way I would learn at the same time. So what does partial read 64 kb and rest fullfill mean ? I'm sorry i don't understand the terms as I'm still learning , sorry if I sound annoying . What steps would you advice me to go ahead with remapping the ms43 .I've been confused with so much info out there on ms43wiki and e46fanatics that I don't know what would be the best option to go ahead with remapping the ECU.Thanks in advance lambda1 ,you have been helping me lot since day 1.

Playing around can quickly escalate to damaged ecu or engine...
Fullfill says everything no need to explain the explaination.

Use Kess V2 5.017

Kess works fine on MS43 and automatically does Checksum.
