I don't see HU100R BMWs in my old console Laser 994 and I'm not prepared to take the risk of a software upgrade.

If I decode and cut as HU100, will it work OK?

no as a reverse section , rather than hu100r look up silca reference hu127 or ic card number 1360

but need ic card 1360 , card 1097 for hu100 will cut wrong way round as mirror images

I dont see a HU100R listing in the new console unless its by another name also tried B119R.

Under BMW X3 there is a 2013+ code range for the emergency key starts with HF, If using HU100R lishi should be able to go under that and put in the biting.
A code search for example: HF0661 may bring up the range listing you need.

Another of my guys said reversing the cuts for a HU100 should work.

Don't remember if the old console has this listing hope this helped. I would say to consider a console upgrade it is a big improvement.

But if I have an existing key and tell the machine it's an HU100, the machine will decode and cut it correctly?

A new console is high on the "new tools" list and I've looked, but I could buy an xhorse Dolphin and have change!

No - I think that will recognise that is wrong blada and will cancel decoding

you will need to cut it on correct card or use a manual tracing machine
