You can replace 93C56 to 93C66, but not 93C66 to 93C56
Pay attention to 6 pin. Sometime it is ORG pin (8 or 16 bit organization)
Some types of chips are hardware organized as 8 bit and some as 16 bit and some by the ORG pin.

lol............Look like you have very big experience with kill this type eeprom!

These eeproms have identical commands, see data sheets first. 93C56->93C66, 93C76->93C86. Just the second one in every pair have
double value. We can't replace it to less size, but can to the larger. Just second part of the eeprom will be not in use. If you do not understand the principles of work, then please do not mislead people.

However you are 50% right because this replacement cant be done in all clusters...some clusters can accept and work fine after this kind of replacement....not all. I already tested...lol

This may be due to the different function of org pin. Just we have to replace it with identical eeprom from the same manufacturer.
For example ST93C56WP to ST93C66WP, 93AA56 to 93AA66 and so on. Then we exclude a mistake.

May be! Soft can check the size.
