Hello guys,

I just became a member of this forum and would like to read the eeprom prom my Kawasaik Z1000 2004.
I started to dissasemble my odo-meter and think that i've found the EEPROM that contains the milage. I've added a Picture and googled for "L56R" and found that it was a 93C56 EEPROM.
So from here i would like to try and read my EEPROM.

But what programmer should i use? For me this is a one time project so i'm looking for a cheap programmer with SOIC-8 Clip. So that i don't need to solder anything (if that's possible) :tears_of_joy:

Welcome to DK, you can be a simple programmer to read this eeprom 93c56 ...
Ex: UPA, Carprog, Minipro among others ...

I'm thinking about this simple eeprom programmer. it has software and SOIC clip included. and it supports 93c56. only wondering of the soic-clip wil fit.

That would be my last option. First I’ll try myself and try to learn. If I’m completely stuck, I’ll find someone to do it for me :)

I haven't been in this for a long time. My advice if you are an apprentice and amateur, how do you buy a Digipro 3. In addition to being an eeprom programmer it is going to change mileage to many vehicles through ODB port. Obviously it has its limitations, but if you want to have an epprom programmer with a wide variety I recommend this.
You can copy the DP3 clone for just over € 100 with all available cables. If it helped you, click on the "Thank you" button

personally I would look for some old circuit boards with 8 pin chips on them and practise removing the chips . you will get a better job removing the chip on most boards, im afraid the comment ...if im completely stuck ill find someone to do it may be a little too late if you end up damaging the dump or the clocks. and could end up with tears before bedtime practise on scrap units before diving in on your own set. just my two penneth worth.

the reason I suggest removal by the way is you could get a corrupt dump by clipping directly.

Thank you for your reply. More people said to me it’s better to desolder. I will practice smd desoldering. I am well known with electronics and often repair deveices. Only haven’t got many experience with eeproms. But I’m learning

You lucky to start with that one (my first was a z1000 too)

You can read in circuit with a clip but you need many read to get a good files.

I recomend you to buy UPA you can read almost everything with it.
