I have a 2012 VW Jetta
The original ECU was damaged, in my country a manual jetta is rare. So i fitted an ECU out of an Automatic Jetta and adapted with odis online.
The car is working ok except for engine light and traction light.

I have taken a full read with Ktag of both ecu's but because of OTP area i can't clone the original manual ecu to the automatic ecu

Does anyone have any ideas how i can make this work?

both ecus are same hw numbers?

Yes both are same HW number. only difference in the part number is
03C906027BE Ori Manual ECU
03C906027BD Auto Doner ECU

try this

however ecus are not same sw version (new 516599 , 1209) and (old 518382, 1681)

I would strongly suggest updating new ecu to same version of software , then copy changes in between

update new ecu to 518382, 1681 with frf/sgo

no chance , do not try nothing, impossible to do that. find an ecu with same part numbers

Hi Jurebv.

This solution so far is the best one. I no longer have an engine light but for some reason my ESC light is still on with a code for (lost communication with TCM) I think it is because the long coding for the ECU is still for an Auto and the manual coding is always rejected.

Thanks so much for your help

no prob mate ;) try recoding brake module with diagnostics for ESC light

I have (i think) figured out the problem with the ESC light staying on.
The abs module sees that the coding for the engine is for a DSG and uses that to attempt to communicate with a TCM that doesn't exist. This is why i am getting the fault in the abs module "lost communication with TCM"

Is it possible to change the coding in the eeprom of the ECU? I cant do it with VCDS as the coding is always rejected, I think this has to do with the OTP area of the MCU.
If i copy the original eeprom to this ecu i get the correct coding so im sure its stored in the eeprom somewhere, i just can't figure it out.

This car is driving me nuts.
