I have this message on my instrument cluster "power steering malfunction". Car model is mercedes benz E350 2014. Fault code is P164400 - incorrect variant coding. Please does anyone know the solution to this problem?

Have there been any changes to the car? Any parts replaced recently?

I would start by reprogramming cluster and steering controller on the chance that the coding has been lost.

I am not close to the car right now, as there is lockdown in my country, and the car is at my garrage/office.
on the programming, what tool is best to do the programming with?

I use MB dealer tool (Xentry). I'm not sure what other tools can do this.
