Are you sure it's the EGR system? P0410 - Secondary Air Injection System.

Hi some ECU's detect EGR operation via the O2 sensor and some via MAF sensor, could be valve jammed,or an air leak in vacuum line to EGR or induction pipes.

See DTCSearch.com - Diagnostic Trouble Code P0401 (http://www.dtcsearch.com/P0401/) on how different manaufacturers detect this.

The funky little vacum valves can go open circuit or block up.

unplug the vacum valve and see if it screams another fault.

have had vacum valves on 4x4's that have gummed up, drop in washing off tank with a old fashoned flasher unit going click-click for a few hours.

SOME HAVE A DIODE ACROSS IT so check which is pos.

It's french chances are it has 2 faults or more.

If valve is vacum operated, it calculates it from maf signal m8.

Confused which bit you changing, valve, maf or something else.

Yes why don't people save money, that is part of basic programming, save
money for rainy days, when younger was never alloud to smash open piggy banks, was tought by mother how to use a pallet knife to extract the money, more fun.

Take it you want reminding bout this thread at end of month!

afterthought. Had a mondog in egr fault (that was the least of it's worries), took it off and (can't remeber) stripped it? anyway, cleaned it,
jumped on it, freeded it off and it cured it, worth a look. Then will all the other work *THINK* vac pipe had come off vac pump as well

It had come form another garage who charged him ?250 for engine control relay, that did not cure it cutting out (pump wiring shorted and lathered in oil), so M-H-M cured ALL the running faults and fleeced him ?500 (inc vat)
took him 20 mins of stuttering and umming to get the dosh out of him. Think there was a few dead piggy banks after he had finished with him.
