Hi DK members,
Here is a picture of 2 Lucas 5AS :
717682
The left is a spare Lucas 5AS working, the right is one from a crashed car, not working any-more. It's used on Rover Mini 1996-2000.
I need to read the ROM and the EEprom (yes the 2). But my actual programmer TL866II doesn't handle this protected MC68HC05B8.
As I need to buy a programmer I'll use only one time for this job. What is the cheapest one who'll do the job?
I can unsolder without problem the 3D33J, run an old PC with Windows XP if needed etc. Cheapest but success with pain :tears_of_joy:.
Thanks you guyz!

Do you have Xprog ? But after reading the ROM, what shall you do/use with the dump ?

No, I don't have Xprog. I've check it's features, it's OK for the protected EEprom:
AUTH-0006 Motorola HC05Bxx and HC05Xxx family bypass security authorization (allows to read/write secured EEPROM and flash memory)
But, I don't see anything for the mask ROM in the features. Is it possible to extract the code running in MCU?
I've seen UPA/Orange5/Xprog-M/ETL/Omega/Carprog etc. OK for the EEprom of 3D33J, but nothing sure for the ROM code.
(even if it's a simple memory offset to shift to read it, all screeshot show only the EEprom 256 bytes dump)
About the project: old car is a WE hobby, I work in computer and I want to help the community.
I've source some old parts, loom, ECU (Siemens MEMS 2J), Lucas 5AS IMMO and key fob for the Rover Mini 96-2000.
The goal is to understand the protocol between of the IMMO and ECU. To use the case of the IMMO with a simple STM32 or ATMEGA to send the unlock code to the ECU.
And, as bonus, try to find a way to enter in learn mode for the IMMO. To learn other keys fob, for people who want to keep the IMMO functional.
As I do electronics too, I have hot air gun, a "usual" generic componants programmer doing flash 24xx, 25xx, 93xx, but it doesn't handle the HC05 family and for sure do not break security fuse.
So I need a new toy!
Thanks for reading me :encouragement:

So, after reading a lot of (old) posts here and test the UPA-USB V1.3 software, I have order this one, with the full adapter set.
It should give me the flash and EEprom dump of the 3D33J.
Hope it'll work!
