W204 ALL KEYS LOST CGDI

Hi guys,i m waiting to go on a 2009 W204 with all keys lost.

I have just one question : Do i need to really conect the K line yellow clip of the obd2 to ESl ?

I never have, I usually do these on the bench and just clip ok, when it gives the prompt to connect and it usually goes on thru the process
