New key comes with barcode
when programing key you use barcode to add key to BCU no pincode

No chip immobiliser is controlled by the remote. Yes they can loose sync Nanocom is excellent for programming remotes and resyncing them. Not all these cars behave the same depends on the vehicle settings. Some re arm the immobiliser automatically some the immobiliser is only rearmed if locked with the remote.

saw one last week on recovery van n fixed fob but no go. wonder what electrical issues they have being old now

if wanta fix cars like this you have to be prepared to spend time on broken ones and forums to learn. quite often it's a common electrical issue
-but if BCM/expensive parts the payback tough. my guess is antennae or wiring there to

personally myself walk away from these but who knows somebody here might share better info n enlighten us all
