Hi all,
I hope someone can help with a real puzzler please?
We have a 2006 MK2 1.6 Focus with variable valve system.
Last year it started to run rough then would be OK, then rough again.
Various mechanics have looked at it, the valves and pulleys been changed,
coil pack, plugs. ECU has been away and checked OK.
clocks have been changed.

Basically now It runs perfectly over 900 RPM.
But when engine is hot and idling around 7 to 800 RPM it
stutters and gets very close to cutting out with the ingnition and engine lights flickering.

I am told that when when the fault is happening, it chuck up all sorts of random fault codes.

Hope someone can shed some light on this please?
I was thinking of trying another ECU. Can it be cloned by just eeprom swap?

Thank you all.

Regards,
Jules.

if ecu is ok, you don't want to change it..

I would look injectors; spray patterns and back flow for start,
check sensors and wiring in general..

Thanks mate.
I think everything was checked,
but I suppose it could be wiring somewhere.

Jules.

Check for vacuum hoses leak...common issue - near throttle body
Sometimes those inlet manifolds happens to break (those with throttle body between runners)...had one with similar problem...
