try a couple diffrent versions of dreamup. Also try diffrent com ports if you have that option in dreamup.

have seen people with this problem before.

although one person that contacted me had flashed the box with gemini image and could not get a connection to the box.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi There,

I am also having trouble with dreamup ( or maybe myself ;) ) I have tried a couple of different dreamup downloads as suggested.
I follow the instructions to the letter, using windows xp with null com cable in com port only one on lappy . It coms up as com 3 in dreamup ...I get to where it says turn dreambox on and i do then it just sits there doing nowt....

Any help gratefully recieved.

Cheers

Hiya thanks for responding...

No it just sits there as if waiting for box to be turned on, i guess it should say at bottom left what model?

Yes it usually comes up the model before its powered up. well with my dm500 it does. Then ones you power up it acknowleges the box then pings it and says it is talking to the box.

Just got it today so as it comes... Its a monitor connection at back of laptop so 15 pin female and the DB is 9 pin male so got an adapter for the pc end ..guess it maybe that that is causing the problem?
IS there a usb cable that has a 9 pin female that you know of...

Cheers that one has a 9 pin male which is the same as the back of the DM so wont fit, will have a search for a female one sure they do them.
I have also been looking in my device manager and cant find any com ports in there at all so may also be the problem...The port on the back of the pc has monitor image next to it so must be ok i would have thought?

Thanks for the help

Dont think you read it proper mate. You get a usb to male adapter then you plug null modem cable that is supplied as well from the adapter to the dreambox. You are getting 2 cables.

The only way of using an ethernet cable with the dreambox is if you have the ip of the dreambox. Im assuming there is no image on your dreambox therefor you cannot. The only option is null modem.

If you have an image on it the yes.

Ok if you can start the image up go into setup communications network. The boxes ip will be in there.

Download this program. Its has all the stuff you need.

Digital Kaos - Downloads - Dreambox Forever (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/other/8/dreambox-forever-329/)

Once your downloaded give me a shout. Basically open dreambox control centre and connect to your dreambox either by crossover or by router. You'll need 2 cables to connect through the router obviously.

use the flashwizard program to flash the new image.
