Hello,

the car was stock. It is Opel Zafira C 1.6CDTI 14' 136HP withe Delco E98 ECU. Had some adblue sensors problem. Final decision was to delete Adblue system.

File with deleted Adbl programmed to ECU and after some warm up engine and couple of starts we noticed that idle consumption raise. Normally was all the time 0.5l with Aircondition off. Now is 0.7l sometimes even 0.9 to 1.1l on idle and you can notice that engine is running not so smooth as on 0.5l. It has correct idle consumption only after first start and warm up engine. If you switch engine off wait and start again it has back higher consumption.

Decided to go back to stock file but what was the surprise when the engine still behaves ubnormally on idle RPMs. So stock file does not helped.

We've made some "small fuel quantity adaptation" with scanner but it helped only for a short time.

Question to owners and Opel diesel specialist: why this engine consumes more fuel on idle now after reprogramming ECU? What else adaptations should be done here? Any hint. I am also ready to pay for the solution of course.

Best regards

The problem is still unsolved. It happens after reprogramming ECU and still exist after programming back original file. Any Opel Delco specialist?

I noticed that when it takes more fuel the ECU do not see the NOx ppm values, from both NOxes, it shows just 0 ppm. Every time when it has correct fuel consumption the ECU see NOx 1 and NOx 2 values. After starting the car for the second time from warm up the problem is coming back and the ECU also do not see the ppm values from NOxes. Maybe now some hint..

Found that this ECU changes automatically "fuel injection modes" I see in measured values. Everyone is making Adblue off in this ECU but take a look what is happening with fuel consumption at idle and not only.. I am the first person who found out the fuel consumption problem? Because noone has solved this problem so far.

Injection modes:

"Homogeneous charge compression ignition" - good fuel consumption 0.4-0.5l.
"Nox catalyst heating mode 1" - bad fuel consumption 0.7-0.8l
"Nox catalyst heating mode 2" - quite good fuel consumption 0.5-0.6l

I can not believe that noone has the Delco E98 solution for deactivation those Nox modes..

I haven't worked on Delco ECUs so far, but if Nm2IQ (or call it fuel consumption maps) exist (great chance this ecu also have it like most EDC1x and SID's I have seen) just copy "Homogeneous charge compression ignition" map over all NOx maps.. Or perhaps injector opening time maps exists for diverse modes you can try doing the same..

You can send me your original read with solution you have I can take a look.
