View Full Version : 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Dashboard. strange problems still after repair

2005 Chevrolet Silverado Dashboard.
I did the usual repair on this dashboard,
but it still has these 2 "non-standard" problems:

1) high pitch noise sound coming somewhere from cluster ( I cant figure out which component is making this high pitch noise )
2) the 4 small gauges (oil, gas, battery water temp ) work intermittently.

For #1 try using an eraser on the back of the board and clean up all the test points you see. After that I usually but a little flux and solder all test points I see. I focus on the top half of the back of the cluster for this.

For #2 it sounds like your 56585 chip is going out. Easy fix would be to run a jumper wire from a 12v source to pin #5 on the chip. It's located at U16. Looks like an eeprom.
