VAG VDO NEC dashboard downgrade SW

Hi to all, I've got an amarok dashboard 2H0920871B with SW 1009 and I want to downgrade to version 07xx which is without component protection. I've tried to flash it with 2H0920871 SW 0729 in odis-e but the flashing process starts and after 5-6 seconds fails. In the log says unknown failure. The 0729 SW frf was converted in odx and BV_DashBoardUDS added so odis accept it. I missing something?

Because the SW10xx bootloader has a newer protection system, it won't allow you to downgrade to a lower version for obvious reasons.
I know this for a fact for colour clusters but I guess the same is true for b/w clusters then.

The error description itself doesn't say or help much.
So no idea if there is a way to work around it.

The only solution to downgrade then is to flash the NEC directly, but you need appropriate tools for this.

You need some proper tools for this mate. Not Chinese obviously. Smok or VVDI2.


I don't want to adapt immo. I want to downgrade SW, so I think the proper tools are Odis E and/or VCP

You still didn't tell us why you want to downgrade

There are some reasons, 1009 is from 2015, 729 from 2017, 729 don't have cp that is useless on my car and because I like to experiments

You mean a virtual cluster on a PQ platform, that will be hard.
I'm sure using a simple canbus converter it should be fairly straightforward to convert canpackets from PQ to MQB to make the cluster partially work at least.
This is something I am thinking about as a summer project.

Big problem is the fit factor obviously ....

If you like to experiments make sure you have all knowledge and tools. I would like to have a fully digital speedo with video incorporated in my van to watch movies when driving. Do you think someone will be able here to help me?

0729 is public, you can find it in flashdaten

Attached is that 871 0729 FRF.
But as explained downgrading from SW10xx will not be possible using ODX/FRF.
