View Full Version : Seat DPF light EGR error

Hello friends,
my car is Leon 2.0 BMM
Today I was driving quite a while until I noticed car was starting DPF regeneration.
The weird things on my Leon are that while regeneration is active the car consumes less fuel. (shown on display)
Also when its regenerating the throttle response is weird. If I press the throttle fully it goes very weak for a few seconds but then it suddenly starts to accelerate pretty hard.
As if this is not enough the DPF light came on for a few minutes today and the OBD emissions test is showing EGR error.
My question now is what the hell is going on here?
Are those things related?
Thanks everyone for helping already.
P.S. This was happening already on stock software once too.

Hi, sounds like the EGR valve did not close fast enough (maybe it was stuck). boost goes then to exhaust. because you had a boost leak, ECU tried to make more boost which led to higher turbo rpm. EGR valve could finally close and you had more boost for a moment.
Thats just an idea for a far diagnosis.
Which faults do you have when reading out by OBD with VCDS or similar tool?

Unfortunately I don't have VCDS yet.
But with generic tool I read some codes from ignition switch will be replaced soon and should not be related to this.
There is P1314 which I saw for the first time today and the EGR failure in emissions test without a specific DTC for this.
Do you think the EGR problem did occur because of DPF regeneration?
Would it be better to turn off EGR completely in software?
Edit: I reread your post now and I have to say that there was not too much acceleration but just too few at the beginning.
Is that what you mean? I was pressing throttle and not much happened for 2 seconds and then it accelerated hard like normal.
But it just makes this when regeneration is active.
If you have any more questions which will help to diagnose please let me know.
THANKS

I understand. It accelerates too late. I think best idea would be to check measuring values with a OBD tool while driving to read out what EGR or throttle valve does when trying to accelerate.
Usually there should be no problem with EGR when DPF regen is running even with a tuned software. Sounds like something is not working right. Maybe turn off EGR in software just for testing but first I would go for a test drive with VCDS.
Was it always like that after the tuning or did it just start doing it now? Can you rule out the tuning software?

Sorry with ori flash file you mean the file read by Kess which is 2048kb?
Yes the throttle response is late with original software too but about the DPF problem I am not sure because I have the car for not very long and had two different tunes on it.
Both gave me the same issue with DPF and throttle.
I will try to look at throttle valve and EGR once I have VCDS.
Do you know how long regen should take on this engine?
I think it takes too long (over 20mins) and throws the light because it finishes too late.

regeneraton 25-40min
ECU: PPD 1.x
Part Nr.: 03G906018GP R4 2.
Siemens SW.: 6576286571_111SN100L8000000

What would then cause the DPF light to come on and go off after a few minutes while regeneration?
Without any DPF related DTCs...

Regen takes long? Check then if temperature sensor no 4 (after DPF) is above 500 or around 600°C. If its not, then ECU does not reduce soot load (can also be checked by OBD). There was a thread a few weeks ago in another forum about a wrong measuring temp sensor. It showed like only up to 400°. Then the car war simply regenerating forever and DPF light came.
