Depend of you budget, you can try VVDI2 is reasonable price for what can do, or can use SVCI, FVDI but to risky need to take care !
Or original AVDI and buy what activation's you need, but is more expensive.
This year will be new unit from Xhorse "VVDI Key Tool Plus Pad" will see if will be better comparative with Autel IM608, Autel IM608 have in plus diagnostic for cars, I think also "VVDI Key Tool Plus Pad" will add step by steps diagnostic functions and new special functions what need for Locksmith.
https://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/showthread.php/857211-VVDI-Key-Tool-Plus-Pad-Coming-Soon-New-tool-!
I am curios if "VVDI Key Tool Plus Pad" will be in future the better tool for Locksmith and not only for this also for car diagnostics and for special functions for fix cars.
You need to take in consideration will need to have also another auxiliary tools like programmer memory for eeproms, MCU's, ...

The only good tool I could say is AVDI and TRUECODE for ford, depends on your bank statements..............

Nooooo AVDI or Truecode for Ford. Look at the bad reviews - never for Ford.
Ford = SmartPro
Citroen/Peugeot = AVDI
VVDI MB = Mercedes
Autel is a backup tool no good as only tool.
You will be a sad puppy if wish 1 tool does all sir !!

As far as I knew, TDB 1000 is good enough, my brother told me he had used it for a while, he's a locksmith e12 (https://welocksmith.co.uk/locksmith-near-me/locksmith-east-london/e12-manor-park-locksmith/). So probably he knows what is he talking about

Sure heard good but you'll need more tools. Reputation everything and every tool fails - always have backups

TDB is indeed a good low cost token free programmer , but its not a 1 tool does all , to say its enough depends on enough for what ?
theres plenty it wont do that other tools will , theres plenty it doesnt do as well as other tools and theres some things it does better than other tools.
you will need multiple tools , whether tdb or any other tool is enough for your needs depends on exactly what your needs are , the coverage you want and need.
it makes much more sense to list the makes , models , years of vehicles you require coverage for , then match the best tools to your needs rather than buy based on someones advice that may not be relevent to your needs and expectations

well said martin - also some tools just know could (or will) damage cars on certain makes.
I'd never plug into a Mitsubishi L200 with Abrites yet same tool great with prox keys.
experience counts and common sense. If your dealing with Citroen/Peugeot new models then be prepare to pay out mega bucks when tool currupts BCM - we've all been there

i love comments like that tool should be enough , enough for what ? a locksmith told me so should be right , i know some excellent locksmiths but i also know plenty who know very little.
take on board advice from where you can get it , but always do the work , work out what you need and match the right tools to these needs , its common sense .
i have full avdi , its not enough
i have im608 its not enough
i have SP its not enough
i have mb extreme , VCDS, Supervag , Vag tacho and plenty of other programmers none are enough on their own
i have truecode , halkyard tech they are not enough
taking all the tools i have and individually none are enough , all together they are almost enough but never enough to do all .
