Installation is very easy. After running Virtual Windows just run winols on desktop. Great for learning purpose, but since is not online, and projects compatibilty can be problematic, useful only for smaller jobs. And i agree full version is very cheap.

Is there professional tuning software out there that allows you change maps...etc through the obdII connector rather than placing the ECU on an operating table being probed with surgical equipment to upgrade it??

Are you asking about live tuning? If yes bflash guys said that they can do that.
On the other hand winols have an interface UCM100 wich lets you monitoring data related to the engine state so you can know in which part of map the engine is running.

In the case of the plugins for WinOLS if the plugin supports export aswell you can import the file, make the changes and then export back to it's original format where you can flash the ECU with manufactures software?

A scam in a sense that it's nothing more than just a j2534 interface, especially when they have support for any j2534 interface in their software.Sure, they'll say thet the firmware can be updated to provide extra features, that can be done with any good j2534 interface that has flexibilty. Correct me if i'm wrong but i don't see them mentioning anywhere the UCM100 is a passthru device? why not?

The messages are from within the executable which is packed, all thats required is for that to be modded so that the pull down device menu shows all the j2534 interfaces installed on the system to be displayed for selection

I've tried 4.51 version but unfortunately same issue :( Which software are you using? Virtual Box or VMware Workstation? I must use Virtualbox because my CPU doesn't support newer VMware versions! I think If I had used VMware instead Virtual Box, this issue wouldn't have happened. Probably, something should be modified that it can work in Virtual Box...

You should look at your motherboard specs and see what is best processor supported by the bios.

You may not need to change board and you will not have to change ram either.

Best processor for my motherboard is Intel Core Extreme QX9650 but it's hard to find out QX9650 in good condition because it's quite old component. There isn't huge difference between QX9650 and Q9650. I can't guarantee support with any DDR3 motherboard. But I'll be 100% certain if I buy motherboard which supports DDR4 Ram and new generation of processors :)

he probably talks about user deviance password.. I dont know it but you can set password to anything you want as you are administrator, but you need to do it after first run so your session does not lock. Otherwise you need to reboot the VM..
