Guys,

Have a problem with this Qashqai from 2017 with 1.2 engine.
VIN: SJNFEAJ11U1835050

Door lock/unlock works fine.
As soon we try to start the engine we have an error : "Key System Fault"
The display also shows the steering wheel with a button next to it and an arrow.

I notice that the steering wheel is not being unlocked and suspect the lock is the problem.

How does these locks in a Nissan work?
Are they coded to the car or can I just get one from the yard and replace it?
Are there any tools to test/fix/emulate these locks?

This lock has a black cover and has Renault/Nissan written on it and mounted direct behind the steering wheel.

All help is welcome.

Update:
Car is fixed and running again.
In this case the IPDM was causing the trouble. Pin 3 of this module did not output 12V power to BCM.

Dont mess with this car.
Have a look at the key programming topics, concerning these QASHQAis first

All bricked Qashqais are pushed toward the dealer, and are refitted with a complete new immo set.
So do not think that you find what you need on d.k.
