FGTECH galletto 0475 clone - USB issue

hi all,
I was connecting my chinese Galletto 0475 to my laptop via USB.

Unfortunately after a few seconds the connection started being unstable, windows was recognizing device on/off e relays were clicking.
In 10s time, the device has started to burnt smell.
USB connection KO > no more green/red leds.

I have opened the device, it seems there is a burnt TX MAX458ESA+.


QUESTION:
which was the problem that affected this fault? bad USB cable?
I have powered the device by OBD plug (12V)

If I can the TX, is there any change of getting it working again?

this is a very bad board with blue relays, and mostly it won't work or something like this happens to burn something out, when you take the galleto 0475 be sure to look for a board with yellow Aromat relays, and they are much better

I bought the first one on aliexpress, but most of the time they don't send you what they show.

Almost all these clones are bad, too bad, especially galletto v54...
k-tag or kess v2 risk damage ecu maybe is lower...

It failed because its a crap clone cheap rubbish quality chip set and relays that's why

this components is what you need to have...obviously also right software (V53 FW0475) make the difference...V54 FW0386 is older than V53 FW0475

thank you, some of these components are already like that...but I'm gonna rework the remaining parts. Especially the relay.

What actually I cannot understand is your statement about the SW version: I thought mine is a V54 0475 and the V53 was only 0386... but you mixed them up

v54 0475 does not exist, sw v53 work only with fw 0475 and sw v54 are only for fw 0386...what fantomel post have only part of my job (video of reprogrammation 0475 with instruction on youtube are mine) but i use original sw v53 and the others not...v54 are china clone of v54 european but fw 0386 are 06/2012...and fw 0475 are from 12/2012....change all components listed because what you find on pcb chinese are very bad and with low quality (maybe you dont know that china market clone also smd components)

honestly I have seen a bad engraving on some components... can you share the link of your tutorial for reworking the 0475?

Like mine, both TX MAX458ESA+ seem be burnt.

I would recommend to check also your USB cable...often it is a pure rubbish

need to change components listed...i dont know which fw have you inside lpc2119, but you can buy this http://denkovi.com/usb-to-uart-ftdi-serial-interface-adaptor (or similar ftdi based usb to uart hardware) then try to connect to your tool and try to read lpc2119, if you can read it post here the readout and i check it.
