Hi,
The relevant number in the calculation is 7700433948TC201
The code is calculated based on the last 4 digits 'C201'.
I'm wondering if your label is damaged in any way, and it could be 'O201' (which would give a code 1710)

In anycase have another look at this number to confirm.

The other possibility, is that the radio has visited a 'radio decoding service' in the past, and the code has been changed from what it was when leaving the factory. (i.e. codes we provide are the original manufacturer's code from serial number)

Is to ask if you are following the correct code entry procedure.

Standard Renault Radio (with Dashboard Display) Code Entry Instructions
* Switch Radio On - The Display will show 'CODE' quickly
* followed by '0000' with the first "0" digit flashing.
1 Rotate "Thumbwheel" until First Correct Digit of Code Displays
2 Press the [? ] button on the Stalk Control to Enter in the FIRST Digit
3 The Second Digit '0' will now flash.
4 Repeat process (1) & (2) for both the correct Second and Third Digits of the code.
5 When the fourth digit flashes '0', use the thumbwheel again to bring up
the correct fourth digit on the display.
6 You know have the correct code displayed with the fourth digit flashing.
However, this time you need to hold the [? ] button on the stalk control
for at least 10 seconds. This process activates the code.

As it happens almost never and I haven't been the luckiest man these day, THE CODE DOESN'T WORK :((.

Funny thing is that I had this code written with a permanent marker on the top of the CD Player and already tried it.
Still, I tried it again and again after your post and now I have to wait a while to try again.

I think I will go to the Renault dealer in my city, to see if they can help me.

I will let you know how it turned out.

2. the second one (guess!) was 2061 - as I told you, I already tried this one like 3 times...

I went to their garage, they tried everything and couldn't figure it out. They told me that some pieces inside might have been change, but that sounds like a cheap excuse.

I think I am out of options now :(
If anyone might have a slightest idea of what I could try next, please don't hesitate.

7723 I had a horrible feeling you were going to say that. That is the code I havce been trying but to no avail.

The old tape deck that I am trying to replace went back in fine and didn't need a code could it be that I need to disconnect the battery to clear the memory?

As I had just pulled out the stereo fuse to connect it up. I have had bad experiences disconnecting the battery in the past.
