Hey guys.

Something very strange as happened and i need experts opinions on this.

I've two keys for my car w202 c220 cdi @98, one of which is no longer working.

One of the keys stopped working, so as i've some experience in microsoldering i went online and bought a key.

My board key are siemens 979701B, and the key that came is 233.186.051 by Motorola, and i know for a fact that some of this cars come with this board since i've a van of the same model from 99 and it has the 233.186.051.

Since the motorola chip is the same (motorola 0f82b), i switched it up, key is fully working, coil is measuring ok(around 13ohm) and the IR(tested with cellphone camera) and the red light comes up. Also all the IC legs are well soldered. Also did try switching up the coils, which are both working but no joy. Car doesn't recognize the key.

My question is:

Why is the car not recognising that key?

Can it happen that the IC has somehow lost it's memory?

And to me it looks that both keys work the same way, but does siemens and motorola keys differ in any way?

Or is there another chip other that motorola 0f82b that needs to be switched from the older key in order for this to work?

Thanks.

Car ignore the key, there are several problem:

1/ For moto key, corrupt dump inside MCU.

2/ EZS bad, ELV bad. Often with this old car.

3/ Car battery bad. Rarely but it happen to me last week when i repair the same Moto key.

Customer call back said not work, no remote, no turn. I ask him change with good battery and since, no any call back.

For resume, there are no one solution for your problem. If you have skill, you have to search where is the problem in your car.

Hey there, EZS/ELV is working fine since the other key is fully working. Car battery is new also, yuasa, changed this year.

Do the dumps of MCU get corrupt in this moto keys? Is this fixable with xprog? Would the fact that i'm using a different board make a difference?

Since the cost to make a new key is quite expensive i'm thinking of getting xprog and a ir/NEC programmer to make a new key, is this a good solution?

Thanks

Hey there, i'm saying that one key in MB dealer is as much as all the equipment, that's what i'm saying.
Anyway, any help that you can provide regarding the two boards? Are they supposed to work when motorola chip is switched to a new one? Or do they really lose the memory?
Thanks for the help

Will try... That's not as easy as it seems since those keys where made with the same motorola MCU and come with 3 different boards, and one doesn't know what is inside. Nor do the sellers open it lol but i guess i'll keep trying the same one to try the same chip once again.
