Help needed with Insurance Settlement.

My 52 plate Zafira 1.6i 16v Club went up in smoke the other day, the car was completely gutted, it's basically just a shell now. :(

It had just under 80k on the clock and was in pretty good condition.

How much should I expect to get back from my Insurance company?

Do they need to give me enough cash that will replace the vehicle like for like, or can they offer me any old amount?

they will offer what they feel like, which is always less than what you expect,, best advice is don't accept there first offer... good luck

Look in local paper, ebay etc for simular car and that price in paper etc is what you can ask for.

See if bent sales man can put advert in paper for one at ?10,000 lol then say sold when NOBODY rings!

they should give you book value.

They will have a book called Glasses Guide which they go by. They will take into account the condtion/age/miles and give you what the book says.....

The will try to pay trade value. It is up to you to prove the true value of your car. Start collecting Auto Trader adds of similar cars. If yours is a specific model that is hard to find then it will be worth more. Be ready to have the hard proof of the value in print that you can send them to back up your claim.

What happened to the car exactly. Are you sure your covered, I've seen these type of claims refused due to 'poorly maintained/kept vehicle'...
