Weird question mate. If you are PRO you should know 80% of all keys compatibility without checking google.
Your question sound like "From where baker know which type of flour need to be used for bread" answer: experience + curiosity

of course you need to know this information , theres much to learn , you can buy programs like instacode to help you , you can get key books and read , you can use supplier websites , good suppliers have search functions make model and year .

but at end of day you cant beat hard earned knowledge and study and research.

basic knowledge and basic skills should be learnt long before you start plugging into cars

love / hate instacode very poor value guess cos rarely use it.
