I have both programmers - Rosfar original, rosfar "blue box" clone and x912tool.de original and "gold box" clone.
Software from Rosfar ori and clone more stable than soft from x912tool.

I tested "gold boxed" clone with MB EZS, MB CGW, BMW CAS, CAS2, CAS3 - working fine. but if you click mouse or click keyboard during reading or writing - software momentally halted, and in many cases you need restart pc to run it again. ( it's not problem only with clone - same situation with original hardware from 912tool.de - it's sw problem)

Rosfar software more stable. But clone work trough usb connection and if you use notebook with "bad" usb ports (ports without sufficient power) or not connect Notebook to AC power - in this case problem's guaranted.

Original Rosfar, original 912tool and cloned 912tool haven't this problem because use Serial port and external power supply.

This is different product from YH-Tech - read and write BMW CAS trough BDM and trough CAS CAN-BUS , but realy only trough BDM, working with own software from YH-Tech, not stable product.

Realy working programmers -

Rosfar R260 from Rosfar.com and "blue-box" clone and
X912Tool from 912Tool.de and "gold-box" clone

both do the same thing!!!

My advice will be to buy The 912/9S12/9S12X Programmer V1.54 because it have more cars in the list!
and try not "click mouse or click keyboard during reading or writing" as Ne0 says ...in fact is recommended to do this with any programmer during reading/writing

I have the 912tool.de clone. Its encased in gold box from China ECU Tools Centre (http://www.ecutool.com).

I have not used it yet cause my pc hangs whenever I click on "Load"... Do you guys experience this?

i thing you will have problems with this tool, because this clone "gold box" is not working...
Sometimes you have luck and its work, but the most time you pc will hang up...

How did you know? On paralel mode do not need any thing because the mcu is locked only for bdm access not for parallel reading or writing. For bdm locked processors it is used some glitch on oscillator , and the coax cable it is for that purpose. I put a scope on the rosfar coax cable at work and i see that the frequency is increasing while the programmer try to put the mcu into boot mode.

For that kind of cas3 you can use xprogm. It works like a charm. For mercedes ezs it is better to use the rosfar clone

I've successfully read the eeprom of CAS3 DG256 0L01Y using gold box but I don't have red box so can't test using red box.

Just get the Blue clone. and use Rosfar 2.60

Receved a 9S12x V 1.54 programmer from ECUTOOL today and tryed it on BMW Z4 EWS4 without luck.

ERROR CHIP CONNECTION !

Any ideas ?

Now i tried this on some cars with 912/9S12.

BMW X3 EWS 4.3 = error chip connection ! not working !
VOLVO V70 912 2001-2003 = working/reads then errror VALIDATION ERROR ! not working!
VOLVO V70 9S12 2004- = ERROR CHIP CONNECTION ! = not working!
FORD MAVERIK 912 -2004= working/reads then error VALIDATION ERROR ! not working!
FORD MAVERIK 9S12 2004- ERROR CHIP CONNECTION !

Notised in log.file that programmer is version 1.2 not V1.54!

I failed also in reading of EWS4 fitted on BMW X5 - US model - with chineese red CAS 3 programmer.
Always get message asking to check black coaxial cable and purple wire.

OK I make interface and software have ident interface as V 0.0.1 and after that I can measure at BDM pin pulse's.
:banghead: But at RESET pin nothing.? always is high - logic 1.
I didn't work with BDM protocol to today and need advice from you or someone please.
By the way if anyone is familiar with AVR asembler here is source code for HEX file which is in your package of programmer ;-)

I was compile it in AVR Studio 4 and is same as from your package but no RESET activity on RESET pin.

I have bought the gold box from aliexpress with software 1.54!

They gave me the wirings for some modules but i have not any info on how to read simple 9S12 mcus such as in Fiat BSIs! Can the gold box read those mcus?

Somebody got working software installer for the CAS3 Pogrammer Blue Box? I don't have CD, downloaded v9.2 and v9.6 but nothing happens when trying to launch installer... Drivers installed fine but I can't install the software on 2 PC's, one with Win 7 and the other one with XP. Any help?

EDIT. OK, solved... Needed to restart PC but now when trying to make a TEST the PC freezes. I tried on all available COM ports and in every case it's the same. Is that software fault or broken hardware?
