You will get a new card before the N1 stream is switched off.

If you don't have a card then the N1 stream is there and can be unencrypted by current software.
However, the cheapo closed source boxes (eg starviews) are affected by the intro of the 1841 N3 stream alongside N1 prior to N1 switch off. That's why so many people have problems at this stage.
For example, when the N3 stream was introduced my area V1.07 software became unusable and had to be switched to V1.12.
N3 has been introduced to quite a few areas but only in the Leeds area has N1 been withdrawn. When N1 is withdrawn it's game over of course. The withdrawal of N1 will be announced by arrival of a new card on the doormat.

I heard from a VM engineer that the N3 rollout has been delayed 12-18 months due to costs. This could explain why VM are sending out new viewing cards before the supposed rollout? Or do we think he's talking crap. I'm looking to buy an HD box but obviously don't want to waste the money if it's going to switch off in a month or two. I'm in the Reading area and noticed that wasn't in the above list. Anyone have any confirmed info?
