Hello guys,

Weak 4C transponder?

Daihatsu Sirion 2000, 1.0ltr.

About 5 years ago, the oem black key stopped working.
The oem grey spare, they then cloned.

Last week, that cloned key failed to start.

So i cloned the oem grey, again to the clone key.
Car started a few times, but failed soon after.

I am puzzled, why the oem black key failed 5 years ago. I can still read the transponder data.

And the cloned grey, very likely a weakend transponder.
I will take the transponder out, and move it closer to the reading coil. to test this.

Greetings Robbert

Clio do that early one the coil goes weak inside key.

would more likely the coil in car (audi common fault). Or the immboliser box, battery off
unplug every plug relevent plug 20 times then battery on and repeat

Dont know, near steering colum, i guess.
Following the reading coil connector, is often the quickest way to finding it.
If i revised the car, i will take it out.

I need to figure out, why the oem black key stopped working years ago.
So i will read the eeprom, to check if the oem key data is still in place.
If yes, i will recreated it, on a tpx1.

WORM Write Once Read Many the transponder chip is umpteen miles of tiny wire
customer could have put in washingmachine - if the powder said hot and the label
said not, getting 60 deg for an hour.

Del Boy or Rodney could have dropped key off top floor of “Nelson Mandella House” Peckham
causing physically damage to the silicon chip, unlikely but powerful magnet in scrap yard
(apparently your keys rip your trousers on way out)

have a snoop doggy snoop on ebay for used parts, if cheap enough just buy

Any 4C's clone. Carbon size.
Which gives stronger signal?

I know about the TPX1 glass - large version (Does not fit inside the keyshell)
(But you might get them smaller also, these days. If so, same good signal strength?).

Original 4C works fine.
And when I put in the clone. Does not work. Need to hold it at the coil ring, to make start up.

Motorcycle stuff. Quite a distance, on these keys.

Agree sometimes that the 4c chip is weak, in my opinion should look for the problem elsewhere, the chip is passive get the signal strength through coil connector and the immo box, need to open the immo box, and go through the soldering and then see if there are any changes.

Don’t think this will help but needs more rearch IF amplify signal great don’t know if does

1 oem key still works fine.
And a clone, at times.
Yes, that could be due to a weaker functioning immobox.
But testing this, i dont know how to.

I will test the transponders first.
Placing the working key, slightly further, step by step, away from the reading coil.
And moving the failing transponder closer towards the coil.

I need to make sure, the transponder strenght is the cause. And ifthe solutions lies in there.
Possible caused by, like you menciend above, dropping off key, or washing it.

The tpx1 is large.
There are glass 4c that are smaller.

The superchip and lkp2 are weak.
I have had Ford Ka 4c problems with these.

Can you permanently secure good chip t’ loop
