View Full Version : Xprog-M and EWS3 MODB or MCU-22P ?

Ok so I need to correct the mileage on an EWS3 unit so I bought an Xprog-M v6.12 which arrived today.

I know I need to solder a wire to the back of the EWS3 board and attach it to the EWS3 adaptor that came with the Xprog-M.

However which point do I connect it too ?

The EWS3 adaptor has a point for MODB (k-line) or MCU-22P (Ground) and I can't find any clear info on which point it needs to be connected too or does it not matter ?

modb boot pin should be grounded , kline is just what it says - kline

Maybe I didn't explain it well.

My EWS3 adaptor is like this:

805204

805203

You did not get it well , MODB is not kline pin, it is just printed clumsy on your chinese ews adapter, it means "MODB MCU-22P" (like two words together) and it is pin under print that leads to GND

Perfect, that makes sense to me now.

Many thanks for the quick reply.

Also be carefull what mask and hw version you read on kline, as i see you don't have experience with it you can easily erase your mcu!

HW 03 SW 08 which I believe should be 0D46J, Date 05/02 ?

yes that one is ok for kline read/write, read mask on MCU just in case

Will do (although i'm doing this for a mate as he was a tw** and didn't listen to me) so if it's a 2D47J then it seems he will need to pay someone else to do the job as I read this can't be done without removing the MCU ?

Ok finally getting around to doing this job.

The EWS3 unit is an D46J so that is all good.

However when connecting to Xprog-M (6.12) with the EWS3 adaptor it's stuck in initialising the device and doesn't go any further.

I have used a multi-meter and confirmed there is continuity to the correct pins (12v, GND, K-line and ModB), and also from my ModB connection on the EWS3 adaptor and EWS3 unit and also from the ModB connection on the EWS3 adaptor to pin22 on the MCU.

So anyone have any idea's why it won't init the device ?

First try connecting some good external voltage adapter 15v to xprog

I tried 12v 3.5a which didn't change anything, but didn't know if 15v was too much for 6.12 ?

O.M.G.........:palm2:

12v and 3,5 amper!!??..........

You decide to just fry mcu?

Mr.cokeaddict!

If little use search button in brauser for find all information about this then turn ignition ''on'' in your's head .....all go by fine.

So I found a 12v 1A psu, which when tested with a multimeter is outputting 15.2v.

Still stuck on initialising though.

After searching 40 pages, I don't find any real information, some posts say it works fine without power supply, others say use 15v, but nothing mentions what amps or which version of X-prog M uses what power.

Use mcu pinout , for this don't need externial power for x-prog , only usb that's it.

Didn't need any extra power in the end, worked fine with ews3 adaptor.
