Ignition on for at least 35 minutes with tester connected and on ,mate, nothing to worry about. if still blocked leave the ignition on for 1 hour, with tester connected.

I came to one of these.
I think they (the garage), tried to adjust the cluster :) And things went wrong.
And also some crazy thing to do, swap the chip.
And at the same time, these fellows smashed the old one. When trying to remove it. (Which is not unusual).

Tried a lot of different tool. But all failed.

Then Connect up Smok.
Do the:
Erase all errors.

Then try one more time, with the tool you tried earlier.
And Voila!
Been there in the same situation. Exactly identical car.
And this was the solution.

Fair enough but is there any way to find out how long waiting time is by using VCDS???

Sure! Need to read more homework! :)

[Select]
[25 - Immobilizer]
[Meas. Blocks - 08]
Select Block 001.
[Go!]
The value in field 3 must be Yes. If value is No, the key is not capable of being adapted to Immobilizer.
You can check each key in this manner.

Select Block 003.
[Go!]
Make sure the shown lock times in field 1, 2 and 3 are 0 (each field represents a time in minutes).
If the lock times are NOT 0:
Do NOT switch off the ignition!
Allow the car to sit for AT LEAST the number of minutes that were indicated by the fields 1-3.
If lockout time was present check Group 1.3 as mentioned above to confirm "Yes" is shown.
[Done, Go Back]

as has been said if ecu locked then ignition on for up to 1 hour to clear it , you can clear it quicker by doing a hard battery reset which will also clear it .

also worth checking fuses , golf gives similar issue when back cluster bulbs are changed blows one of 10 amp fuses .

If you remove the cluster.
And being able to make a readout.
Just emulate the old position.
And start directly.
