Hello.

Can anyone help in following.
I've read out flash of ECU VW Passat B5.5 1.8T ME7.5 USA. This car switches check engine light on in case of catalyst failure. Other flash i got reading the same, but european vehicle. It will not turn MIL on in such case. I suppose that there are 2 ways for solving this problem. First is to change coding from 16001 to 26001 (USA to Europe), which is impossible via VCDS. Maybe manual eeprom correction can help. Second one is to correct flash dump.
Any info to this end appreciated.
Thanks.

Many thanks for info, but it's more preferably to correct dump.

Ain't gonna happen. 2002 EU version also turns on the check engine light if the cat fails. Buy a new original cat and make sure any engine problems that caused the cat to fail are repaired.

Maybe i need amend. I have VW Passat B5.5 2002 made for Russia with coding 26001 and i know that it won't switch this light on. I uploaded my flash (Europe). I want to help my friend who has such vehicle, but imported from USA. Anyway thanks for proposal.

Are you sure the light is on because of a cat failure? There are hunderds of reasons why the light can go on.
Do you know which trouble code(s) exist in the engine's ecu?

Of course, i know, because i do diagnosis for VASS group.
