I have just done a similar swap but I had done it so I can keep the original ecu as a backup and tune on the replacement.
You'll need to download me7_95040.zip and VisualME7Logger.zip and extract them both to the same folder.
To dump your ORIGINAL 95040 EEPROM, follow the instructions here: https://nefariousmotorsports.com/forum/index.php?topic=1168.0 (requires using the command line)
Open VisualME7Logger.exe and click on Tools > EEProm.
In the first box, make sure it displays the path to your ME7_95040.exe. If it doesn't, browse to the proper location.
In the next box, browse to the location where you dumped your ORIGINAL eeprom and select it.
Click Read (file). The boxes on the right should fill with data.
Copy all of these boxes into a notepad.
On the ECU that you will be putting in the car, repeat the above steps.
Once you have the new ECU data shown in the boxes to the right, go back to your notepad with the ORIGINAL 95040 EEPROM data and copy it all into the boxes in VisualME7Logger.
Make sure Correct Checksums check box has a checkmark.
Click Save Changes to File.
Back in the command line with ME7_95040.exe, follow the appropriate command to write your newly saved file onto the new ECU.
This is how you clone your immobilizer and vin over. You will still need to match the coding with VCDS/VAG-COM or you will throw some errors.
