HI all
I have got a Ford Mondeo 1994 y. make with 1.8l @ 85KW engine.
The car just dont start. Aparenly no spark!!!
I have checked :
No signal is comming to the coil pack for spark activation.
Crankshaft sensor resistance ~345 Ohm
Camshaft sensor resistance ~460 Ohm
Resistance according to autodata its within the specs.

The coil pack resistance is also according to specs provided by autodata.

Does this car have the inertia fuel shut off (IFS) switch? as some later models have, like focus have? Somwhere hidden?

I need advice on what to check before i can throw the car to junkyard. :d

Thank you very mutch in advance for prompt answers.

Hi. front left hand foot well. up under the glove box (right hand drive) to the left there is a little hole 25m diamter approx. has button in it facing upwards. if button is up cutt off has been tripped. if down still ok. can press it down again if tripped. check for fuel leaks though. have ignition off when re setting, turn on and check for leaks. Sounds like it could also be coil pack, very common to fail on mondys. Also check all your fuses in the engine bay and the ones behind the glovebox.

HI,
I will check that tomorrow, i think the coil pack is ok because there is no signal comming to the coil packs. It does have the +12 at the center wire. i wll check it manually also by giving neagtive impuses while ignition on.
The fuel is not leaking fo sure, all the vacuums are in place also.

I couls not also understand the diag test error codes with the led. I was able to read the first code, it was 116 ( cant remember what it was.) , the secon some how showed 3 long pulses and some more ...... I will try tomorrow with the fresh head..

Thanks

Well,
No luck today, the IFS switch is ok, in working condition.
Still no spark. The fuel is injected only once after starting to crank engine. Then no impulses are given to the injectos.
The self diagnosis shows only 2 codes;
1=116 repeated twice = temp sensor
2=111 repeated twice = Systemos OK (according to autodata)

Question: How to properly check the crankshaft and camshaft sensors? I have measured the resistance, they are all meets the specs given by autodata.

Anything else to check? Still desperate.

Is there an anti theft system installed?

Is there an anti theft system installed?

Yes there is, but it only cuts the ignition wire. I have checked that already.

Hi it will still start if the camshaft sensor is faulty, crankshaft sensor should produce over 1 volt AC at cranking speed, have you got 5 volts between the outer connections of the throttle position sensor with the ignition on?
Is the security led flashing quickly when you try and start car?

There is no security LED
1 VAC @ cranking speed hm.... Will check that tomorrow. I have checked only the reistance. It was ~345Ohm
TPS has about 5 , i think it was 4.87v when i checked.

I can check that small VAC current with simple multimeter? Can't I? Damn should have bought the osciloscope instead of my RC Byggy. How stupid am I !!!! Arghhh!!!!

Thanks, for the hint.
