What you want is possible .......but.
There are a couple of thing to be aware of.
Your IC will fit instant ,even socket and pinout's are the same
IC is only connected with Engine Can-bus (twisted green/green white wires)
Interiuor Can-Bus (twisted Braun-raun/red wires)
2 black ground wires and of course 1 red wire (+)
To make it work to your verhicle's correct parameters ,
you need at least a facelift W203 to programe these settings in Developer mode
Here you have to change setting like "Tankdata" Variantcodierung" etc etc
Once completed , everything will funtion , but there will be no odometer this will be ---------
!!Warning!! never ever try to "pair" the IC into your verhicle,it will result in errors ,
programm wil be terminated AND this will make your EZS milage place the comma (,) 1 step to the right, so 80.000 km will become 800.000 in your EZS :(

If you have a multifuntional steeringwheel , yoo have the correct IC shown in your picture.(High-end IC)
If you don't have a multifuntional steeringwheel , you neeed the IC without the chrome rings (Low-end)
Another minus to this "upgrade" is that youloose audio/phone functions on steeringwheel untill you facelift your radio/nav and/or phone module (UHI)

Hallo, I'm new in this forum, but really need your advise! Can I swam my Mercedes 203 from 2001 Steering wheel with facelift one from 2005? Will the controls start to work, or should something more need to be converted?
Also if to swap speedo what it means - there will be no odometer ??? Will the hand on the speedometer start to work and in central LCD I don't see speed or I can't see speed at all?

i think the steering wheel from 2001 to 2005 is the same style..
if u have 4 spoke steering wheel..
the 3 spoke i think it is diffirent style.. but i think it is the same can BUS..

the dashes "-------" in the speedo after fitting a new IC from another vehicle is because there is over 250kms in the IC's memory from the previous vehicle it was in before. MB state that you can only fit a new IC or one with less than 250kms in the memory for the new one to be updated with the correct mileage from your vehicle.
The only solution I know is to have the IC's eeprom reprogrammed to work in the new vehicle with something like "enigma".
Unless someone knows a different way in development mode in DAS?
Qrius do you have any thoughts on this?

For ------ in odometer, isn't an epprom virginization enough? And then coding with STAR?

If you have virgin dump for that exact instrument cluster it would be enough AFAIK.

Hi,it's possible to clear with programmer used IC and then code with the Star in a car.We make it with used IC in E211

What do you mean exactly with clearing? Filling all eeprom data with FFFF....?
