Sounds like you may have an airlock in your cooling system have you tried bleeding the cooling system (has work been done on the engine)

Hi is this noise only present when the air conditioning is on if so it could be a lack of refrigerant gas in the system.

Not quite sure as its been a while since I looked at a pug though got 2 sitting in the driveway (citroen same thing) ill have a look at them in the morning from what I remember there's a brass screw at the thermostat housing slacken this of no need to remove and keep topping it up till only coolant comes out. If I can get my hands on a 307 or 206 tomorrow ill take some pics also what engine is in these cars??? the fault could be the start of a headgasket.

thank's xram, it's a 1.4 petrol engine, i get up to between 200 rvp and 300 rvp when sitting idle then it starts to slosh about inside the car have been told nothing to worry about could be air lock and might clear itself, also temp, water, ect, have all been sitting as per normal, heating blowers ect all warm, hope that helps,

From what I remember not worked for pug for 8 years so been a while theres a bleed screw at the back of the engine looks like a tyre valve cap don't take it off or you'll lose the rubber washer just slacken it off ill get photos tomorrow if I can as both cars in drive are diesels.
