astra 1.8 petrol 2003 emissions high replaced maf still has a fault code p0170 checked wiring ,fuel pressure ,evap valve for leaks swapped lambda,

co 9.0
hc546ppm
lambda .755

i have checked everthing i can think of attached idle log file'

Dumb question but is it a genuine air flow meter, or a 'hung foo wang tang clan' chinese copy?

Sadly not able to help, just ask dumb questions instead, but with the old airflow meter and the new airflow meter, and/or a hairdryer, what is the voltage output from the smaller wires on the airflow meter?

if not sounds like ecu, clip a earth lead to it.

Next dumb question, if you remove the sparkplugs is one 'wetter' than the rest?

Had an asgtra G where has misfired for longtime and washed oil away and ~~~~ed the cyclinder, new spark plug and code reset every 2 months!

Vauxhall, zafira 1.8 petrol 2003 P0170 fuel trim malfunction (http://www.ilexa.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=17821.0)

Too lasy to post on your freelander thread asking if you fixed it?
Thanks Meaty.

the maf is a pattern bosch one but all the voltages are good

Oh it's one of them "let us know what it was jobs"

so either ecu or mechanical fault causing excess fuel.

what about some molegrips on fuel supply in.

Going to have to refer you to here http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f114/opel-zafira-2002my-1-8petrol-68272/ and read second post, and other simular ones.

Sorry

try cleaning throttle body, then reset electronic throttle using op-com. Ive had something similiar to this and that sorted it on a Z18XE

I seem to recall from dealing with another similair problem that maf earth is supplied through engine ecm and that an additional earth had to be installed to rectify emission problem,is fuel pressure ok and long term fuel trims? Also has cam timing been checked?,i've had this with a tooth out which caused emission issues, hope this helps.

surely a bad earth would show up as a maf fault ?

i will check cam timing in the morning.

awesome, what did you do to fix it?

If you don't mind being asked, but what did you charge the punter, just intreasted that's all, we have this from time to time, and nobody want's to pay for 10 hours @ ?35+vat per hour!

Did you have a the EML light on with the fault code mine has the same error code with new MAF fitted but no EML light

thanks

the eml lamp was intermittent dependinig on where the wire was the problem was 7" from the ecu

and meaty i charged him ?180 an i lost on that time wise bearing in mind other places had looked but could not find i reckon i spent a good 10 hours on it.
