5054a Bleutooth connection setup manual by Camieltje

Here is a manual to easely setup the connection between VAS-PC and VAs 5054a (ORIGINAL) Bleutootch interface.

1: install this Belkin Bleutooth software :

I have used a Belkin Bleutooth stick for this connection setup and have tested on a car with no connection faillere for several hours :

2: connect your 5054a head with the USB connection to your PC or laptop

3: now open the following program : Diagnoses Interface Configuration Utility
when the interface has made a connection you will see the next screen.

the Blue round is the original configuration.
the red one is the one to click on and save.


(when you buy a interface its set always to security MODE 4)

4:now you have to adjust the security level of the Bleutooth connection and that is the main issue that several bleutooth programmes and sticks are not working i think.

You have to CLICK on the MODE 1 to adjust the security level and click OK to save the adjustment.

5:here is the explenation of the security levels of the 5054a bleutooth head (with a 5055 head you wil see no mark on the security mode becouse it has no bleutooth on it)

6: now remove you 5054a interface of the USB connection and unplug the cable.
put you rinterface in the car and switch on the ignition.

7:now double click on the chortcut of the bleutooth software to search for your interface.
when it finds you rinterface make a connection to it (you have to put the serial number that is written on the backsize of you original interface to complete the connection.

8:now double click on the following icon on you desktop

9:now you will seee this screen

10:now click onADD EDIC.... and you will see the next screen,

choose at the list on the richt top the VAS 5054 item and click OK.

11:when correct you will see the next screen

now choose a line and click OK ,when for example COM 3 give's a error choose COM 4 and clik on OK again until you see the next screen:

now just click OK to exit the screen.

12:now doubble click on the next schortcut :

now just click OK and wait a moment until the screen dissapears.

14:now the interface has a connection to your PC and VAS-PC software.
now you can open the VAS-PC and work with Bleutooth connection.
the only thing you have to do when the interface has been unplugged from the car it looses the bleutooth connection with yuur PC then just open the Belkin BLeutooth software schortcut and make a connection again after the interface has been plugged in to a other car again.

Hi, I have purchased a chinese clone 5054a head and I didnt ge the bluetooth with it. Can I somehow make it work with bluetooth or did they leave out the reciever on the head? Any ideas? Excellent article.

I mad all the procedure. Everything going well but when I open the VAS-PC says that the interface is not installed correct.

My dongle I believe is chinese.

I got the same problem, but the interface works!

Did you tested your interface on a car?

My VAS shows the same error at starting the program, but if I try to read an error code or something else, the interface works fine ( chinese clone with VAS v17 german).

Please pay attention if the ignition is turned on, then it should work.

i have a problem with 5054a
bluetooth head . every time i try to install edic interface i get no connection to bluetooth divice or wrong com port message on the computer screen.
I can pair the bluetooth with 5054a without any problem. please help

First of all you have to check if the VAS 5054 is within the bluetooth network.
If yes check the COM port that is assigned to it.
If there are too many sometimes a reset helps, see this link My Coffee cup: How to clear or Reset COM port ? (http://blog.cognitioninfotech.com/2009/01/how-to-clear-or-reset-com-port.html)
After a reset and adding the VAS 5054 to your bluetooth network follow the instruction of camieltje.
I my case it was not nessessary to change the security lavel I could the bluetooth too by using the serial which is displayed in the hardware name.

I write on this subject since the new topics are deleted. I have a problem with the installation of VAS 5054, no matter which version (v18, v17, v16). After installation (with/and without installed the drivers) I have such error:

Is it connected by USB or by bluetooth?Connected by USB, but i tested by bluetooth (is the same efect)


Can you find the device in Edic Hardware Installation?Yes, it is (by USB and bluetooth)


Can you find the device in Edic Software configuration?Yes i finded the device.

I tested on 3 different laptops, with new systems (WinXP SP3 Dell D620, iQon, Asus)

Can you send a screenshot of the Edic hardware inst., software config and the diagnostiv interface configuration utility?
I once had a VAS 5054a that did work only with v14 and v15 too, but not with v16 and higher.
It seems that this might be a device problem.
Did you reinstall v15?
You can use the newer data DVD's by editing the config and the label files according to the version you are using.

Sorry for delay but i am busy today.
Can i open my VAS5054 i upload photo motherboard. I think troubel is with VAS, he works only with version to 15,not with higher.
Xaver can you say about this method editing the config new DVDs and use with oldest version. Can i use DVDs from version 18 or 17?

The software does not recognize your device.
Did you try to reset your com ports?
If also a reinstallation of VAS does not work here the files for using new data with old version.
You have to exchange the existing versions of label.txt and config.txt on you audi data by these to files (please rename to label. without any extension and config.txt before).
You can give it a try but I cannot give you a guaranty, for me it works in former times but I don't know exactly if I changed also other files too.
Maybe you have to adjust the compatibly inside of the config.txt to 0150 for v15 too and the version info inside of label to v15.21.00 instead of v18.21.00.

And i didn't get a "usb key"(i got only bluetooth) as in some "china vas 5054 kits"

For me works only through blututh. Usb doesn't work, it is defined as USB Divice (+12v). Checked on other computer. Earlier all worked. What can burn down in USB - ISP1181ADGG?
