BMW E39 528i M52B28TU - Question

Hey , my friend yesterday bought an E39 with M52B28TU engine , car is full stock , stock exhaust, stock engine .

Im wondering why it does not have power , i've driven E39 with 2.8 engine but single vanos and it was way much powerful than this double vanos he bought.

Where is the problem ?

The engine had only 2 lambda errors, ive disabled them until he buy a new ones . Maybe catalyst is clogged ? after you press the pedal it goes like a 2.0 m52 engine , ive checked if it is even a 2.8 but it is marked as 286s2 on engine block so it is 2.8 .

What to check ? what to look for ? , even m52b25tu goes way much better than this 2.8 .

Simple it is.
Rest are common diagnostic... lambda, vanos, disa, maf, fuelling system.

Hmm doesnt seem to be a bad engine , it's jus like a car weight is 4 tons instead of 1.4 ton :D , I will diagnose it in couple days because friend is truck driver and he is leaving me the car to fix couple things . I will post the results

If there is no power up to 3000 rpm, it may be a vanos problem and camshafts to be set.

If there is no power up to 6000 rpm, maybe the cats are blocking.
Maybe the fuel pressure is weak.
Maybe too much fake air.
Lots of problems can be.

Disconnect the maf and do a test drive.
No computer diagnosis,( real value preview), nothing can be said.

there is no power at all up to 6000rpm , feeling is like a vanos is not working or just poorly accelerates .
