EDC15/16 - checksum

Hi,

do I need to calculate checksum if tool calculates in writing? I have clone kess tool.
Or is better to calculate in winols and to turn off calculating with tool?

I'm always calculating in winols when exporting modified file, and after that kess is also calculating. But this method works on vag edc16, I'm not sure for edc15, so I'm asking what is better.
