Can anyone tell me please are all Clarion 93C46 rotated, I am trying to read one from a Clarion PU2325A.
My CDH Electronics gear has thrown it's teddy out of the pram again, and has to go back to see Colin, so I'm trying to read it with an Asix Presto, I wired it up as a rotated 93c46 and was unable to read, so tried as a normal one still the same.
Would I have damaged it if it was not rotated, and I read it as rotated.
Any help would be appreciated.

just to be really unhelpful, try powering up the unit, get data sheet for 93c46 and see if power and ground are where you think they are.

If it's any conslation think i've screwed ANOTHER (2nd) ?9 ebay programmer, damm.

Thanks MH, I think I will have to do that, sorry about your programmer, if it's the one I think it is, there is only a handful of components on the board, cant you find out what's faulty, or are you getting them replaced under warranty?

1st was at xmas and didn't have a soic clip and shorted 2 pins out, e-mailed, 'want diagramme' gets reply, 'very sorry new one in post'

today tried with soic clip to what thought a 24c04 (whatever) 'read error'
the 93c46 had read 10 mins earlier now has a 'differant' dump in it!

so no rush, thought that counts!

think that God here has answered your question by accident tonight anyway

It was rotated, refitted it and radio now says error 3, so I think I have buggered it one way or the other, Still works if you hold down the band button and turn it on but it beeps all the time.

Maybe it is rotated, did you check on what pin is gnd?
If gnd on radio is on pin5 on pcb, so chip is normal, if gnd is on pin7 on pcb, so chip is rotated.

Before years i tryed to read one rotated chip as normal, more than 20-30 times and ofcourse i did'n read it, then i ask a friend and he say that maybe it is rotated and i tryed it like rotated and read it sucsessfull, so there was not problem.

Error 3 ..just means 3 wrong attempts mate ,and the beeping is because it is in engineer mode ...and reminding you that the code has not been entered.. your eeprom will be fine ...

PS ...Another CDH man..me too mate

Hi PremierD, When I saw the name Tam on the CDH forum I thought it might be you.
Yes I have had CDH gear for about 15 years , the first interface i had had a sine wave generator for doing the early Philips radio's with ER1400.
I do not use it very often, now and every time I do I have to remove the token and then re-install the software.
Last time I tried it would not re-install, and so I am sending it back for later software to be added.
Thanks for the info on the 93c46.

93c46 chips with rotated pins have a T in the code after part no

eg TEM8

T = Rotated
E = Temp Range ( -40 - +85)
M8 = Package type (SO)
