i have a customers 1998 fiat maera td125 coming in monday that starts from cold every time, but once its been running for a while and you turn it off it will start if you leave the ign switched on, but if its turned off for a few minutes it wont start until cold and every time it wont start the key light is illuminated.

you could try
from cold.
ignition on.
then heat up the im*o with a hot air gun and see if that stops the key recognition.
then try the ecu or any other related module.

sometimes condensation can cause this type of problem

Adding to nutloose theory, it could also be the circuitry in the im*o affected by the heat., possible damage to the tracks?

This is a great problem on fiat cars.

Replacing immo reader does not always help or help for long time.....

My marea has same problem, when you try 3-4 times it starts.

If its euro 3 you can turn off immo into ECU,if its euro2 you cant turn off immo code.
