I am with PGI 0.5 on a 9000HD and the webTV via firefox does not always work. It may work on a couple of channels and then it starts freezing or remains black... I would like to connect directly from the vlc to the ipox but I cannot. I tried http://ipbox:4000 (as (http://ipbox:4000%28as) suggested in another forum) and several alternatives close to this one however it does not work for me. I tried also changing to udp, mms, etc. protocols, changed several port numbers but no luck to for the moment.

Does anybody have any idea how to connect vlc to the 9000 HD (dgs image). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi rosspet,

you fire up vlc, then select media, open network stream.

next select http as the protocol, and if for example your ip address is 192.168.11.21, then type this into the ip address and click on play. That works for me with this version.

I use opera though not firefox.

Hi kpjuk,
I have tried this but does not work for me. I also tried ip.address:4000 but this did not work neither. Could you clarify why did you mention you are using opera? My question was really whether I could use vlc on its own without having to use any browser, i.e. fire up only the vlc, type in the ip address and thus effectively use my laptop screen (with vlc in fullscreen mode) as my tv screen. As I change the channels with the remote control (not via the webif) I hope one can continue receiving the channels.
So, basically, my question is whether I can avoid using webtv and use only vlc...

Hey CGSscottsuglymom (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/members/133716-cgsscottsuglymom/),
Which vlc version are you using? I am using the latest 1.0.5 and no luck. Did you make it working with the above instructions only? If there is any "trick" please let me know.
Tnx

OK, I made this thing work, too. So, vlc work on linux (ubuntu) and on win7. On an XP, however, I am still having issues. Used Kantaris and it works great on XP. Used http://ipbox:4000.
