Hi,

I have a C5 with a dead MM (920 900) cluster. I would like to swap it to have VDO instead (920 930).
I usually don't do anything like this, so I'm not that well prepared in terms of devices. Of course, it is not possible to read Magneti Marelli with this VAG Commander, however:

Is is possible to make it run with read the "new" VDO pin, set it up in the car, and try to learn all my old keys (as well as modify back the real mileage) only with the informations from the VDO?
It has the same plugs, everything is working fine again if I set it up in the car, apart from the flashing immo light.

Genuine VCDS, VCP are present, unfortunately nothing else for clusters.

Thanks a lot!

With these tools you only can try to read mm4 pin from engine ecu. if this is not possible only way is read motorola microcontroller direct.

So if I understood correctly, there is no possibility to throw MM cluster away, and only try to adapt the "new" VDO.
If I had the pin e.g. from ECU with Autel or VCP, I would be able to make the swap procedure from Ross-Tech, right?

What do you think, are those clusters both immo3?

Yes, Audis from these years are equiped immo 3 for sure. you can check with vcds on 17 instruments and look in the extra field. immo 3 cluster know your car VIN. Therefore you need pin from jaeger. Once you have it, you can read with commander and adapt "new" VDO with vcds without problems.

edit... for immo 3 vdo must be prepared (set in new mode) to allow adaptation through fiftyeth channel.

Thanks for the fast replies.

Which genuine tool do you recommend, what would be able to work on these old ones and maybe up to MQBs?
