Hello, esteemed gentlemen.
After tens of thousands of searches on the internet for a poor Serioux GPS firmware, I came across this archive of Chinese navigation firmware that I saved in my Mega account and I want to make it available to all the members of this community. , maybe I can make their work easier.
For those who are new to the field, you will not find in the archives the exact model of the device. To do this you need to open it and see what is written on the label on the motherboard:
Y912S -........ Y912T ........ M3618 ......... etc .
1. How to understand that you have an ARM9 device
Sticker on the motherboard starting with M2618 v xx.
2. How to understand that you have a Cortex-A7 device
Sticker on the motherboard starting with M3618 v xx.
3. How to understand that you have a Cortex-A9 device
Sticker on the motherboard starting with M3618 v 3.x .., 912s v 3.x, etc
4. How to understand that you have an MTK-Mstar device
Sticker on motherboard starting with YG-912S (T) -BFSJ-4G, etc. , 912S (T) v xx
To write the software you need to copy the contents of the archive to a 4GB (maximum) card formatted FAT32. I used a 2GB one to be sure.
The card must be inserted in the device, the device must be charged or plugged in. After that, press the RESET button with something sharp.
If you see various written lines, such as NAND ID, Verifying Block, etc. written in green and blue it means that the update procedure has begun.
You can also see more images on Youtube with a simple search like Chinese GPS Firmware Update.
Let the device update. If it stalls on something for more then 5 minutes, try another firmware.
The procedure ends when the device starts in its original interface or in the calibration screen.
There may be small differences between your device and the firmware in the archive. Example your device has 8GB of storage and the firmware is for 4GB storage. Or you have 128MB of RAM and the firmware is for 256 MB. You need to experiment. I wrote a firmware 15 times until I found what I needed. Even if it's not the right firmware, you can retry the procedure with another one.
Good luck !
Note: It may also resolve the issue with Open COM Ports Error on some Y912S devices with these firmware.
