Hi guys, i,m trying to change a vin/chassis number in a E46 instrument cluster software version 20. Unable to code via DIS or NCS Expert. Does anybody have some instructions or help regarding this?
I have willem programmer, tacho universal 2008, INPA, DIS, NCS Expert.
Any help would be great.
I,ve tried using pa soft 1.36 but cant get any comms with various kl interfaces.

Hi

First read dump in M35080, and post it here.

The eeprom is located on same side of PCB where is axles for arrows. You must completely dismantle and remove the arrows.

Arrows (Needles)

what year is the car

will this require a new chip to be soldered to the cluster? or can the existing chip be reprogrammed in place?

There is no difference for years, eeprom is located on same place. From the year depends only on the type of EEprom 93s66 or m35080.

yes same place but more chance is m35080 the newer the vehicle if m35080 v3 then remove chip/rea dump/save dump/zero chip/write dump/change km/solder back to board but if any problems read/write with m35080 then replace chip with new blank and write saved dump then change km

make sure you have a good saved dump before erasing chip

if 93s66 read/save/wrie new km any problems remove chip and try again

note i had a v3 that was a nightmare prob locked like v6

best procedure i found

diga menu
BMW
3er
E46
m35080
read and save dump

then remove and do the same and save dump

you now have 2 x saved dumps to work with

then in diga menu zero chip

m35080>0 and wait will take a little while

then write one of the saved dumps back to it and write the new mileage the solder back to it and test prob best to remove battery before carrying out any of this if you have any problems with it write a dump to a new chip

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD SAVED DUMP

good luck

note position of chip before removal so not to resolder upside down by accident

solder wire direct to pins

pin 1 indicated here by a dot or from the wedge side from the chip also see diagram for pin numbers

Your missing the point of this post he is asking how to edit the vin number not how to do the mileage, you can edit the vin number without changing the chip as the vin is stored in the non protected area of the 35080 chip.

If you can view your dump on a computer screen you need to edit in the Asctii column, read the link that i put above, it does not matter what programmer you use.

i used tacho universal 2008, bmw inpa, ncs expert and a hex editor. still having a few issues with the car, can faults but the cluster is coded, not tamper dot and correct mileage.
