Does anyone know how to manually program a remote to a uk 2014 transit custom? Tried the turning the key 4 times, 6 times, 8 times, with the seatbelt and without, with driver's door open and unlock button pressed but no beeping. No lock cycling. Original key starts the van but remote doesn't work, but seems ok when I read the remote data, van showing fault code B10AB key lost synch.

Anyhelp appreciated, cordially MoeJo

You need original remote with electrical 4d chip
not with separate transponder
remote work automatically when you learn key
Like old transit blue remote

Thankyou for the fast response! So would I need to erase all keys and add the original back to resync it? Is it like older ford's where you need two keys if your going to erase all the keys?

You don’t need erase key just relearn it
click add key et remote should work if battery is ok
did you tested the original remote ?
if you erase all key you need 2 key

first off have you tested the original key that the remote has stopped working on ? does it give out the correct 433/434mhz signal when the buttons are pressed ?

if no then it is likely that the rechargable battery inside the remote has died , you can if into repairs open the key up , desolder the dead battery from the board , then solder a new rechargable battery to the board , then recase if needed .

if the rechargable battery has died then no amount of recoding will get it working again, its new key or its a rechargable battery replacement .

if it is giving out a correct signal , then it doesnt rule out a deceased key some get corrupted or give out too weak a signal , but also throws into the mix the possibilities of a reciever , wiring or electrical fault or blown fuse, have you tested for any of this ?

you can add a new key to the system without issue as the key can be reused on another vehicle if it turns out to be a vehicle issue.

that code could just mean the keys fallen out of synch on a rolling code and recoding would fix this if the case , also common is wiring harness issues that may need checking , bent or corroded or uncoupled connectors are commonly seen , the code will also show if remote is broken and not functioning correctly.

Repaired fobs never last - seen so many bodged attempts

And being popular with building trade often in a bad way

thats why i always quote for new genuine key , transit are one of the most abused vehicles and keys out there , id never offer anything but genuine on any generation of these .

but not everyone thinks this way and prefer to sell china keys or repair , i know as i get to change alot with genuine when there cheap key fails.

Hey, so a quick update, firstly it transpired that the "original" key was not an original key as it didn't have a soldered rechargeable battery, it had a replaceable battery, which was fine, yep tested the key and it seemed fine, re added the key, and it worked fine!
Problem solved!

Cut and added another standard bladed key using a super chip set as a Ford 80bit until I can get hold of some BK2T fobs.

So to anyone else having a similar problem, it would seem that actual ford rechargeable keys don't lose sync, they're probably broken.

BUT it's worth checking if it is an original key as it would seem it's possible for aftermarket fobs to lose sync, well at least this one did, there was some signs of water ingress in the original fob, so possibly just a bad connection with battery caused a voltage issue and it glitched? No idea, I just know that after being readded the remote synched and works.

Well yeah mate this was an aftermarket key that has probably begun failing, but it's still working for now and the problem is not everyone wants to pay for a Ford fob. And it's not helped by people posting two part separate transponder and remote fobs on auction sites listed as transit custom keys for a 10er,

And to rapidlocksmiths, first off thankyou! And yeah all of that crossed my mind, but when the only fault stored is a single lost sync permanent code, and key fobs are a known fault with these transits it seemed prudent to start there. Anyway thankyou again to everyone who posted with help and advice, very much appreciated!
