Hope someone can help me, I've just recently bought a 500c and it came with the dk image installed on it. Got it all working ok then i decided to try a neutrino image as i always prefered them on the dbox2.
Using Flash fxp I sent the neutrino image to tmp folder on the 500c, then on the 500c went to manual update, changed the name of the image as instructed then started the 500c flashing.
The 500c went through the flash erase and writing flash sequence and then rebooted the 500c
Now when the 500c boots up now all i get is this screen(see attatched pic)!
I had a read through the forums and thought I'd try Dreamup to see if i could fix it
Connected the 500c to my laptop with a null modem cable, selected the correct com port, and powered up the 500c when dreamup asked for it.
In the log file it reads, 13:54:37 box type: DM500 and thats all, nothing else happens!
I'm really stuck now! Wish I'd never messed with it!
Hope someone can help

It recognises the box and the status bar says initiating flash-loader upload, the flash button never becomes pressable the only button you can press is the disconnect button

use dreamup again and make sure the image is named .img and not
.nfi

heres how to use dreamup http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f34/guide-flashing-dreambox-dreamup-33/

i hope this helps....

forgot to add make sure you load your k*ys and services

The image is correctly named and I've followed the guide right upto:

Connect the power and the bootloader should be copied to the box
The message should now say 'Box attached and Ready'

When i connect the power the status bar says initiating flash-loader upload and nothing else happens. So i'm not able to select an image
I know about the k*ys and services etc as I already have a dbox2, I just can't get an image onto the box

have you tried flashing via the web heres a small tut what i use

Important, You must know what IP address your DB will have, post flash erase. My DB always gets the same IP address from the router when I use DHCP. The IP is assigned based on MAC address, so never changes from image to image.
If someone else can, please chip in with a way of figuring out your IP address otherwise.

1: Turn on DHCP in the communications page and note down the IP address your DB was assigned.

2: Remove the power supply lead from the back of the DB, hold in the power/standby button, plug in the power supply again (While keeping the button pressed). Give it about 15 secs and flash should be erased.

It only actually takes about 10 secs, You will notice that the flashing pattern on the LEDs will have changed.

3: Open up your favorite web browser and type in the IP address you noted earlier. You will see a green page load. Click the link labeled 'upgrade firmware' (or similar) on the bottom left of the page. Browse to and select your the NFI image file on your PC. Click the button to proceed.

4: Once the flash progress meter has reached 100%, turn the DB off then on again.

That's it, You have a new image in flash.

Hope someone finds this useful

I suspect that the cable you're using is not a null modem cable. Can you verify it by flashing another dreambox maybe?

Dreamup is the only way you will get the box working again. If it's not fully booting, the ethernet side of it won't have initialised so you won't be able to use ethernet.

You sure your laptop is configured so that the port is com1 (it should be, but at this stage, check anyway)?

I don't have access to another dreambox, but have tried it on a desktop pc running xp and also on another laptop running xp(mine's running vista) and still no luck, so im thinking you may be right about the null modem cable! I've just ordered another one, hopefully that will sort it out! I'll let you know when it arrives!
How critical is it to have the com port set to com1?

Its probably a tuner driver problem, with the davodka image.
Its gonna be dreamup and use a newer image, have had this problem before with this image when setting up a mates box.

It worked on mine but not his newer box,if i can find it or anyone else?there is patch available for the new/older drivers, which can be added via ftp.

Recieved new null modem cable today but still nothing! Have tried it on a computer with a com port(not usb adapter) still no luck.I've tried 3 different versions of dreamup but still the same, it recognises the box as a dm 500 but then does nothing!
Is their any other way I can get an image onto this box? or is it knackered?

if its recognising the box then its ok.

you do have the box switched off first.

open dreamup.

untick network flash.

then press connect.

then switch on dreambox

it should then ask if you want to flash or flash erase, choose flash.

then point to the image you want to flash.
