Hi all

I've tried searching but I cannot find any definitive answers for this.

Can someone help me extract the data from the eeprom of the airbag module in my 2006 (56) Nissan Note (it was involved in a collision, all airbags replaced, diagnostics showing up as B1210 Side Collision Detected, so need to clear that such that in the event of an accident the airbags will actually deploy)

How would i go about writing a dump to an airbag module?

I am fairly skilled in electronics, automotive electronics is a new field for me as a hobbyist!

many thanks

What I also need to know is, if there are any airbags that are missing/faulty/not communicating with airbag module, should these also throw up an error code when reading with diagnostics?

Check the follwing information:

Car model: Nissan Note
Module manufacturer: Bosch
Module part number: 0 285 001 907 Bosch 28556 1U70A
Memory chip type: 24c08

you have to program the serial 24c08 in your airbag ECU

check the following files:

Thank you very much for your reply,

How do i go about flashing the serial 24c08 in the airbag ECU? is there a special tool/software i need?

many thanks

is that the only tool which will do it or will any tool that can flash to 24c08 manage it?

im assuming all i have to do is read the data on the eeprom, store it somewhere so i have a backup just in case and then flash the attached file to the eeprom and that ought to fix it?

cheers

Yes mate youre right. Any programmer will do it..( presuming it can read 24cxx)

thank you for your reply

do you know what package the 24c08 uses in the ECU? I haven't had a chance to open it yet and don't want to open only to find i cant manage it!

are the 24c08's used in the ECU's SOIC or DIP?

thanks

SOIC usually, almost of times

you could use this cheap programmer with ponyprog software, but you have to use a DIP8 to SOIC8 adapter

PS:
About your thanks, when you are gratefull hit the thanks button on bottom right corner from posts

thanks :)

I've just bought a multi PIC programmer (JDM compatible) and a SOIC-DIP clip adapter

it has a crocodile clip like connector on one end which has 8 pins which you clamp onto the top of the SOIC chip and on the other end is basically like an 8 pin DIP package which will go into the ZIF socket on the reader

so, all I have to do is,

read the data off the 24c08 using ponyprog, store the BIN file, and then using the appropriate file which was attached further up the post, to write that BIN file to the 24c08 and it ought to work?

many thanks

I will update once I have received the parts!

I just had a look under my centre console and I'm a little perplexed...

the markings on the airbag ECU are as follows:

Nissan
98820 9U40A
BOSCH
0 285 001 912

and theres a big square with a number '8' inside it with an arrow running behind it.

can anyone help?

the dumps provided above are for *907 and *909 modules, mine appears to be *912

please help!

As soon as my components arrive I will post a dump up on here

also, in order to remove the AirBag ECU, is it necessary to remove both battery terminals and leave off for 3 mins before disconnecting or can it just be disconnected with the battery attached?

i advice not to disconnect airbag ECU, or any ECU, with battery connected, unless you are trying unlocked engine ECU from another vehicule.

ok,

i managed to disconnect airbag ECU after leaving battery disconnected for 25mins, and pumping brake to dissipate any left over current

however, now I have the problem of removing the bolts that attach the ECU to the chassis!

they are on so tight that my socket wrench has actually broken with the force i applied trying to open the bolts, the wratcheting mechanism is broken.

i dont know if this is of any relevance to anyone but the resistance on most Undetonated bags should be around 2.2ohms. so that is one way to check if the bag or belt is Ok. tip: the connectors short themselves when unplugged for safety purposes.
