im very new to this so what is a cable xml and what does it do ,someone has just told me to copy it from my dw image to the dk image but not said why

the cable xml will tell the box what to scan for and what to look for lets say you scan bbc on the tv you would get bbc1 bbc2 bbc3 etc:

etc/tuxbox is where you will find the cables.xml
i see you have the dm8000
